    Don’t know what’s going on, so I’m guessing that you’re gaining altitude in a thermal, and the beeping indicates rate of ascent?

    • @AnthonyMassie
      @AnthonyMassie 24 дня назад

      Yes, the instrument you hear is called a variometer, or "vario." When the pitch is higher and the beeps are faster, it indicates a greater rate of ascent. This helps you map out the shape and size of the thermal, allowing you to stay in the core more effectively.

  • @alem5098

    Hi, I' m trying the same harness and have the same problem you have, (legs going up on bumps or entering a strong thermal), feeling to fall behind that make your abs constantly engaged. I think that the problem is how much weight you put in the rear container, i.e. camel back and other stuff, that makes the harness oscillating two much around the barycentre. I already have the lateral straps tighten at max so I should be quite in an upright position but that seems not enough to counter the problem. Loosen the legs straps doesn't seem the right solution for me because you alter too much the angle at which the harness should be (legs too low). So I think I'm trying to move as much weight (camel bak included) as I can to the front "ballast container" they give you with the harness. In this case all the weight is neutral because is close, if not exactly, on the vertical of the barycentre and should have no effect on the pitch. Let me know if this make sense for you and/or you solved the problem in a different manner. Cheers.

    • @SkyMaxOne
      @SkyMaxOne 25 дней назад

      On this flight I didn't have my back all the way upright. On my last flight, I did put it all the way up, shorten the leg straps, and adjusted two other seat straps (forget what's they are called and manual is confusing anyway). After all that, the flight was very comfortable, and flying was very nice. Really enjoyed it. My main mistake the first time around was doing adjustments without weight in the back container. This time, I put 5kg dumbbell there, and then started leveling legs until it looked right. It worked. I did have the same idea about using ballast container for drinking water, but haven't tried it yet. I believe, we should be able to adjust it without it. My seatboard is currently a bit angled forward, and it didn't seem to bother me much... yet. Adjusting this harness is a work in progress, but I think I got it pretty close for now.

      @@NoTengoIlusiones you get used to that part. Most of them are benign, and we can actually practice recovery. When I started with PG, collapse "problem" was really high on my list. After a few years... yes, it's still there, but just a characteristic of the aircraft 🙂

    • @NoTengoIlusiones
      @NoTengoIlusiones 25 дней назад

      @@SkyMaxOne that is what I believe it's a nonsense and a paradox: "you get used to that part". Aircraft should not close in flight and change it's behavior. I know PG usability it's a big plus, but enough for security trade off? Accepting with normality parachute openings, collapses, cravats like the "new normal" ? Fly safe. Cheers

    • @SkyMaxOne
      @SkyMaxOne 25 дней назад

      @@NoTengoIlusionesI tried it and it worked for me. It's easy to deal with a colapse high in the air, where they mostly happen. I was convinced by experience, not theoretical fears. It's not like hg safety record is any better than pg, just for a different reason. You fly safe as well. It's a dangerous sport either way. Stay vigilant.
